Developing Readers – Level 2 (Fridays 5:00 pm)
Developing Readers: From Sounds to Words!
This class is the perfect next step for students who have mastered their letter sounds and are ready to tackle independent reading. We take that solid foundation of phonemic awareness and turn it into action. We believe that the best way to learn is through the power of play! Every session at Brainiax is packed with interactive games and high-energy challenges that turn “decoding” into a major win for our students. By incorporating multi-sensory, hands-on activities that engage the eyes, ears, and hands, we make new reading skills truly “stick.” There are no boring drills here. Instead, we prioritize active participation to keep our readers moving, ensuring that every lesson is as physically engaging as it is educational!
What Your Child Will Learn:
- The Art of Blending: Moving beyond single sounds to fluently reading CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant) words like cat, map, and sun.
- Advanced Phonics: Tackling the “tricky” parts of English, including consonant blends (bl, st), digraphs (sh, th, ch), and long-vowel patterns.
- Decoding & Fluency: Transitioning from slow “sounding out” to word mastery.
- Word Architecture: Learning to segment words into sounds for both reading accuracy and early spelling confidence
The Goal: To transform budding sound-awareness into independent decoding, giving students the “keys” to unlock their favorite books.
